I've never heard of "F.C. Clovis?"

F.C. Clovis (Futbol Club Clovis) was previously known as the "Teen Soccer Program". It was designated by Clovis Junior Soccer League, as its upper-age soccer program for 7 seasons. Due to the success of the program and continued growth, F.C Clovis was established as a "Club" within CJSL in 2008 by the voting members.

Why should I play for F.C. Clovis?

We guarantee 50% play time to all players regardless of ability. Our volunteer coaching staff is age appropriate, licensed by CYSA and highly skilled. We work towards player development BEFORE wins and losses. We offer a positive environment, challenging league play without the time commitment of Division 1 or Division 3 soccer. Many older D1 and D3 players have returned and continue to play in our D4 program to enjoy their "love of the game".

Post season tournament play in a higher division is also an option for those teams that are ready, without having to commit to an entire season at an added expense as part of a D1 or D3 program.

What are the fees?

Player fees are $100 for all ages - U14, U16 and U19. Additional information regarding registration is available on our Registration page.

When and where do I register to play?

See the Registration page for current information.

What are the age restrictions for playing on an F.C. Clovis team?

An age matrix is available on our Registration page.

When are practices and games?

Practices dates, times and locations are established by Coaches. Most games are played on Saturdays, but games can also be scheduled on Sunday or if needed during the week, if required to make up games or during playoffs. Games are played at various locations, in the greater Clovis/Fresno Area. There are also occassions when games are played outside of the Clovis/Fresno Area to accomodate registered teams from outside our playing league, such as Selma, Sanger, Lemoore and Madera. Historically, the majority of the games have been played at Bicentennial Park, Selma Layne Park, Clovis East H.S. or Buchanan H.S.

How are teams formed?

Teams are formed on a first come, first served basis, according to which school the player attends. Please make every effort to Register as as soon as possible. Head Coaches may keep all eligible, returning players, that register by July10th, 2010. All other players will be placed into a 'player pool' and are assigned to a team. The sooner you register, the better you chances are of getting on to a team of your choice.

Can I select a coach, or team? I want to play with my friends, what if my friend doesn't get picked?

All efforts are made to accomodate players and parents when assigning teams, but F.C. Clovis cannot guarentee that a player will be placed a particular team or coach. Players are not chosen or picked. They are assigned to a team formed on the basis of their H.S. Area boundaries. They are called "color units" that reflect the primary H.S. color (B.H.S. Blue, Clovis Gold, etc.). If you register on time, it is highly likely you will play with players from your H.S. area. If there are not enough players for a home team, you would play for the next closest 'color unit' team in your age bracket.

Can a player move up to play in a higher age group?

A player may play in a higher age group with written request from the parents and approval of the F.C. Clovis, Board Of Directors. A player can only play up one birth year, and may not displace a player who is age appropriate. (Example: A first year U14 cannot play at the U16 level; however a second year U14 may. A second year U14 player may not play up to U16 if any U16 player is turned away from a team due to a lack of U16 team roster space.) U16's have on on occasion "played up" in league play, when mixed U16's and U19's teams have been formed in order to round out bracket flights.

How can I become a Coach?

Contact our Director of Coaching, Sal Blanco. ALL coaches must obtain a "minimum" F license to coach a U14 team, higher level licences are required to coach U16's and U19's. Clinics are offered through CJSL and are FREE to coaches at F.C.Clovis. Clinic dates are also available on our Calendar or F.C. Clovis News page.

I do not attend one of the Clovis Unified School District schools, can I play for F.C Clovis?
Yes. You must meet the age requirements. You will be assigned to a team that is formed around the nearest C.U.S.D. high school from where you live. Any other request have to be approved by the F.C. Clovis Registrar and the F.C. Clovis Board of Directors.
